Discussion with state management agencies, associations and local businesses to develop reports to support the demonstration that Vietnam's wood production and export industry operates under market economy conditions in trade remedies cases
Within the framework of implementing the "Overall Program on the use and response to trade defense measures to support and develop a number of Vietnamese industries in the period of 2018-2020, with a view to 2025" according to Decision No. 755/QD-BCT dated March 28, 2019 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in 2024, on December 12, 2024, the Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam (TRAV) - Ministry of Industry and Trade organized a discussion with state management agencies, associations and local enterprises to develop a report to support the demonstration that Vietnam's wood production and export industry operates under the conditions of a market economy in trade defense cases in Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province.
The seminar was attended by representatives of the Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam - Ministry of Industry and Trade, representatives of the Department of Industry and Trade of Binh Dinh province, the Binh Dinh Timber and Forest Products Association (FPA Binh Dinh) and member enterprises producing and exporting wood in the locality. At the seminar, representatives of the Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam shared an overview of the law on trade defense and the issue of determining the market economy in Vietnam's trade defense cases, typical cases on trade defense issues; the situation of investigation and application of foreign trade defense measures on Vietnam's exports, and made recommendations to respond to foreign-initiated trade defense investigations on Vietnam's wood industry. In addition, representatives of the Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam received feedback and recommendations from businesses, grasped the difficulties and obstacles that wood industry enterprises, especially small and medium enterprises, are facing today, not only in the field of trade defense but also opinions on preferential policies, trade fraud, etc. Representatives of the Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam also answered questions of interest from state management agencies and representatives of associations and wood industry enterprises in Binh Dinh province. Speaking at the seminar, representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, associations and wood industry enterprises in Binh Dinh province assessed that this is a very useful, effective and practical activity to help state management agencies, related units and wood industry enterprises in the province grasp more detailed information about trade defense measures and how to apply them effectively, thereby having solutions to prepare for responding to trade defense cases in practice.
